What to expect when you come to me for training?

Goals

Once I know your goals, we will talk about how many sessions you would like to do. This is completely up to you. Some people come to me one or even five times per week, others might train every other week or even just once a month. We will figure out what works best for your schedule with work, kids and finances. I will create a training plan that fits your life.

You

It all begins with you. I will ask what you want to get out of our one on one sessions. Is it to lose weight, gain muscle mass, tone up, train for a specific event like a marathon or a strength event, work on your overall fitness or are you wanting to work on specific areas on your body? I will also ask you to make me aware of any injuries or underlying health issues that I should know about.

 

Book

Once we have booked your one to one sessions, we can then discuss the option of an additional home/gym training plan. This will be done in your own time to maximise the benefits. If you have a gym membership, I can make you various workouts that you can do there. How many programmes I plan for you depends on how many times you can realistically make it to the gym each week. If you don’t have access to a gym, I can do a complete home workout plan for you. If you have equipment, such as weights or resistance bands, these will be incorporated into your home workouts. If not, your plan will be tailored accordingly. The amount of additional training will be based on the time you have available. Generally the home and gym programmes will change every month.

Nutrition

Once we have discussed the training, I will ask if you need any guidance with your diet. What you eat is an extremely important part of your fitness journey, as this is what lets most people down. You can do all the one on one sessions and extra training that you want, but if you don’t make sure that you eat a varied and healthy diet, you will not get the results that you desire.

"What gets measured gets managed" is a famous cliche but very true when it comes to health and fitness. That's why those who succeed in transforming themselves are those who write everything down.
